How I Can Help
Psychosexual, Couples & Relationship, and Individual Therapy
Whether you're experiencing sexual difficulties, navigating challenges in your relationship or exploring patterns in your own life, therapy offers a confidential space to understand what's happening and find a way forward.
At LTAS Therapy, I offer specialist psychosexual and relationship therapy for individuals and couples in Essex, London and online, with an approach that recognises the influence of our experiences, relationships, culture and identity.
Finding the Right Support
Not every difficulty fits neatly into one category. Sometimes what begins as a sexual concern is connected to relationship dynamics, personal experiences or something you haven't yet found the words to describe.
Explore the areas below to find out more about how we might work together. You don't need to know exactly where your experience fits before getting in touch.
Where would you like to begin?
01
Psychosexual Therapy
Understanding sexual difficulties, desire, intimacy and confidence.
Sexual concerns can affect more than our sex lives. They may influence confidence, relationships and how we feel about ourselves and our bodies.
Psychosexual therapy offers a space to explore the physical, psychological, emotional and relational influences that may be contributing to your experiences, without judgement or pressure.
What I Can Help With
I work with individuals and couples experiencing a range of sexual difficulties and concerns, including:
- Low sexual desire and differences in desire between partners
- Difficulties with sexual arousal or orgasm
- Erectile difficulties and ejaculation concerns
- Painful sex, penetration difficulties and vaginismus
- Sexual anxiety, performance pressure and confidence
- Changes in sexuality and intimacy following illness, treatment, childbirth or menopause
- Sexual shame, distress and difficulties with intimacy
You do not need to have a diagnosis or know exactly what is contributing to the difficulty before seeking support.
How Psychosexual Therapy Works
Sexual difficulties rarely exist in isolation. Our bodies, emotions, beliefs, experiences and relationships can all influence sexual wellbeing.
My approach is integrative, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches according to your circumstances and needs.
Depending on what we are exploring, therapy may include psychological understanding, psychoeducation, communication, body awareness and structured exercises designed to support greater understanding and confidence.
Where appropriate, I may also recommend medical assessment or collaborative care alongside psychological therapy.
What to Expect
Therapy begins with an opportunity to understand your concerns, experiences and what you hope to gain from our work.
We will explore relevant aspects of your sexual, relational and personal history at a pace appropriate to you.
Psychosexual therapy is a talking therapy. There is no sexual contact or physical examination during sessions.
Where exercises are suggested, these are explained beforehand, adapted to your needs and undertaken privately between sessions if you choose.
You can attend individually or with a partner, depending on your circumstances.
02
Couples & Relationship Therapy
Understanding the patterns between you, rebuilding connection and finding new ways forward.
Relationships can become difficult even when there is love, care and a genuine desire to make things work. You may find yourselves having the same arguments, struggling to communicate or feeling increasingly distant from one another.
Couples and relationship therapy offers a space to explore what is happening between you, understand the experiences and expectations each person brings, and consider how you might relate to one another differently.
What We Can Explore Together
Couples come to therapy for many reasons. Some are experiencing a particular difficulty, while others recognise that something in their relationship needs attention.
Areas we may explore include:
- Communication difficulties, misunderstandings and recurring arguments
- Emotional distance, loneliness and loss of connection
- Trust, infidelity, betrayal and rebuilding after relationship injuries
- Differences in expectations, needs, values and expressions of love
- Intimacy, sexual connection and differences in sexual desire
- Attachment patterns, emotional responses and relationship insecurity
- Cultural, family, religious and intergenerational influences
- Parenting, life transitions, changing roles and responsibilities
- Navigating uncertainty about the future of a relationship
Therapy is not only for relationships in crisis. It can also provide an opportunity to strengthen understanding and connection before difficulties become more entrenched.
How Couples & Relationship Therapy Works
Relationship difficulties are rarely explained by one person's behaviour alone. Often, couples become caught in patterns of interaction that neither person intended, but both find difficult to change.
My role is not to decide who is right or wrong, or to take sides. Instead, we work to understand what happens between you, including how each person's experiences, beliefs, emotional needs and expectations influence the relationship.
Drawing on an integrative range of therapeutic approaches, our work may involve exploring communication, emotional responses, attachment patterns, intimacy, boundaries and ways of responding differently to one another.
The aim is not to make you agree about everything, but to support greater understanding, more constructive communication and meaningful choices about your relationship.
What to Expect
Our initial sessions provide an opportunity to understand your relationship, the concerns bringing you to therapy and what each of you hopes might change.
We may explore your relationship history, significant experiences, recurring patterns and the ways you currently manage difficulties, connection and intimacy.
Sessions offer a structured, confidential environment where both partners have an opportunity to be heard and where difficult conversations can be approached with care and curiosity.
Depending on your needs, I may introduce reflective exercises, communication practices or activities to explore privately between sessions.
Therapy does not require you to have all the answers or to agree about what needs to change before beginning. We can explore those questions together.
03
Individual Therapy
Understanding yourself, exploring the patterns you carry and making space for change.
Sometimes the difficulties we experience in relationships, intimacy or our sense of self are connected to patterns we have developed over time. You may find yourself repeating familiar behaviours, struggling to express your needs or questioning beliefs you've held about yourself for years.
Individual therapy offers a space to explore these experiences, understand what may be shaping them and consider how you want to move forward, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
What We Can Explore
Individual therapy can offer support when you're seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences and the ways you relate to others.
Areas we may explore include:
- Recurring relationship patterns, attachment and emotional connection
- Self-worth, confidence, identity and personal authenticity
- Difficulties expressing needs, setting boundaries or managing expectations
- Sexual identity, sexuality, intimacy and sexual self-understanding
- Shame, guilt, internalised beliefs and experiences that affect self-acceptance
- The influence of family, upbringing, culture, faith and social expectations
- Emotional regulation, vulnerability and patterns of avoidance or self-protection
- Relationship loss, rejection, betrayal and significant life transitions
- Navigating uncertainty, personal choices and changes in your sense of self
You do not need to be in a relationship, experiencing a crisis or have a particular diagnosis to benefit from exploring these concerns.
How Individual Therapy Works
Many of the ways we think, feel and respond to ourselves and others develop through our experiences, relationships and the meanings we have learned to attach to them.
Therapy provides an opportunity to become more aware of these influences, recognise patterns that may no longer serve you and explore alternative ways of understanding and responding.
My integrative approach draws on different therapeutic perspectives to consider your emotional experiences, beliefs, relationship history, identity and personal circumstances.
Depending on your needs, our work may include reflection, practical strategies, emotional awareness, exploring personal narratives and developing greater confidence in making choices that reflect your own needs and values.
The aim is not to tell you who you should become, but to support you in understanding yourself more fully and deciding what change means for you.
What to Expect
We begin by exploring what has brought you to therapy, the experiences you would like to understand and what you hope to gain from our work.
You will have space to talk openly about your concerns, without needing to have everything clearly understood or neatly organised beforehand.
As therapy develops, we may explore patterns, beliefs, emotional responses and significant experiences that help us understand what is happening for you.
Where helpful, I may introduce reflective exercises or practical activities for you to consider between sessions.
Our work is collaborative, with the pace and focus guided by your needs, circumstances and goals.
